Welcome to Flashpoint Farrier Services

A PART-TIME PROFESSIONAL EQUINE TRIMMER SERVING THE TRI-STATE AREA ...(Iowa, Illinois and Wisconsin)

I offer barefoot trimming from mini to draft. Transitioning horses from horseshoes to barefoot and maintaining the barefoot hoof. My goal is to help find the best short-term and long-term solutions for your horse’s hoof problems.  This can be anything from thrush to founder and everything in between

An initial visit includes a comprehensive assessment of both the horse and its hooves, followed by a brief consultation. During this time, we will discuss the horse’s diet, daily routine, and overall lifestyle to ensure a holistic approach to hoof care. The session will conclude with the first trim, tailored to the individual needs of your horse to promote optimal hoof health and long-term well-being.

Quality of Movement

A naturally shaped hoof  allows the foot to land heel-first with an engaged frog and rolls to a correct breakover.

——

Better Circulation

The natural flexing of a barefoot hoof promotes better circulation, which can help in overall hoof health and can lead to better tissue quality and hoof growth.

——

More Natural Movement

Barefoot hooves allow the horse to move as nature intended, with more flexibility, shock absorption, and improved traction. Shoes can restrict the natural expansion and contraction of the hoof, which can lead to stiffness or discomfort.

——

Supports Long-Term Hoof Development

Barefoot horses are often able to develop stronger hooves over time, as they’re not restricted by metal shoes. The hooves can gradually adapt and become more resilient to wear and tear in the right conditions.

Progressive hoof care involves continually adapting hoof maintenance strategies to address the evolving needs of each horse. This approach ensures optimal hoof health, strength, and balance throughout the horse’s life, with care tailored to their unique requirements.
